Welcome to the humble home of New York-based DJ Giancarlo Marcopoli. Hailing
from one of the most beautiful cities in the world,
Istanbul (Turkey),
I have been madly involved with
dance music since the early 90s. I got
my start playing tapes at house and tea
parties when I was in high school, and continued to be an avid follower of
the scene when I moved to Germany in 1992.
Moving to the US in my college years, I got involved with the campus
radio, WEAX. Playing a Friday night dance show at the station, I got
introduced to the infamous two turntables and a mixer. Inspired by DJ QC's storming set at my birthday party, I decided I could no longer
be just a spectator, but needed to get behind the decks.
Playing my first gig on an
open decks night at Inertia (many thanks to
Kurt Shultz), I proceeded to spin at several underground parties around
Minneapolis.
Becoming a resident with
Club Sota in 2002, I organised and played at several boat parties in the
summer of 2002. Since then, I played at various
clubs, including First
Avenue, The Quest,
Fahrenheit, Tabu,
Escape
Ultra Lounge, Jetset,
Nochee, and
Tonic. My last stint before leaving Minneapolis was FAB,
my Saturday night residency at
The Lounge. Many thanks to everyone who etched endless
crazy memories into my mind during that time. I love you all very madly.
Now living in Manhattan, I play at various events and host Good Fridays, a residency I share with Pol, JR, and Ibrahim. You can get a list
of my upcoming gigs here. For booking, guest listing, promotional materials, or general
